Current Challenge

Every year, FIRST releases a challenge for FRC teams across the world. In 6 weeks, teams build a robot that can complete the challenge and compete with other teams.

FIRST Power-Up is the 2016 FIRST Robotics Competition game. The game is played by two alliances of three teams each and involves controlling the switches and scale with boxes, filling the vault to use powerups and climbing the scale to face the final boss.

Scoring points is dependent on the teams ability to control the switches and scale with boxes placed on the friendly teams side to tip the scales(and switches) in their favor (Auto: 2 points per second(pps) Teleop: 1 pps, points only gained from control of the scale and/or the friendly switch) and fill the vault with boxes to be able to use 3 powerups: Levitate, Force, and Boost (Levitate grants a free climb, Force gives control of the friendly switch, scale, or both depending on the level, and the Boost doubles pps of either the friendly switch, scale, or both, also based on the level). Climbing the scale in the last 30 seconds of the game will give 30 points for each climb. RP can be gained by completing the AutoQuest(All bots cross the line and control of the friendly switch is gained by the end of the auto, 1 RP), having all bots on the team climb (1 RP) and winning(2 RP). Finally the team with the most points at the end of the round wins.
